Aeternum Secures Option to Buy 51% Stake in Cameroon Cobalt Project
Aeternum has acquired an option to purchase a majority stake in American Renaissance Minerals, sponsor of a cobalt-nickel-manganese project in Cameroon.
Aeternum announced it has secured an option to acquire a 51% interest in American Renaissance Minerals, the company sponsoring the Nkamouna Cobalt-Nickel-Manganese Project located in Cameroon, marking a significant move into African critical minerals development.
The Nkamouna project targets cobalt, nickel, and manganese — three metals that sit at the center of global supply chain debates as governments and manufacturers race to secure materials essential for electric vehicle batteries and clean energy infrastructure. A controlling stake of 51% would give Aeternum majority decision-making authority over the project's direction and development timeline.

The deal structure — an option rather than an outright acquisition — gives Aeternum the right, but not the obligation, to complete the purchase under predetermined terms. This approach allows the company to conduct further due diligence on the Cameroon-based asset before fully committing capital, a common strategy when acquiring interests in early-stage or frontier-market mining projects.
Cameroon has emerged as a territory of growing interest for critical mineral explorers given its geological endowment, though projects in the region also carry the operational and geopolitical complexities typical of sub-Saharan African resource development. Aeternum's move signals confidence that the Nkamouna asset warrants deeper investment in a competitive global race for cobalt and nickel supply.
